Clever workaround gets cars to Canadians

This car isn’t available on the Tesla website, not on the Canadian website. However, it seems Tesla is keen to get a foot in the door in Canada so has devised a clever way around the strict federal EV incentive restrictions.

It looks like Tesla has tweaked the Model 3 Standard Range to a software-limited 93-mile range vehicle that starts at $44,999.

Making it just $1 under the cap set out by the Canadian federal government. You can order this car by phoning or dropping into a Tesla store.

Then because the base price is under $45,000, the Standard Range Plus also qualifies for the $5,000 incentive. This vehicle can be ordered online.

Tesla sneaky when necessary

While a 93-mile range vehicle is laughable, the workaround gets the cars to the owners in the fastest and cheapest way possible.

Tesla is known for its ability to sneak around regulations and restrictions.

They did something similar in Germany when Tesla was removed from the EV incentive lists due to its high costs. Tesla is determined to get their cars into every corner of the globe.

Model 3 sales go strong

They continue to dominate the U.S market and have a strong foothold in other big markets like Norway. Tesla’s Model 3 is the best selling electric car in the United States.

Unlike its competitors, Tesla can’t make up for its losses with profits from internal-combustion vehicles. Tesla isn’t ever far from the news headlines with both good and bad press.

In the last few days, stories have included the news that the company is being sued by the family of a man who died in a horrific crash while traveling in a Model X.
